Russian TV borrows diplomat’s name to discuss “horrors of Euromaidan”

2014/11/24 • News

Russian propaganda used the name of the former Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Veselovskyi in a story on the “horrors of Euromaidan” that was featured on the state-owned Russian television channel Russia-1.

The real Andriy Veselovskyi

In the  feature a certain Andriy Veselovskyi, who is introduced as “Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, 2005-2008,” comments on events in Ukraine to the Russian interviewer.

Veselovskyi did indeed work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, but the person appearing on Russian TV is not the Ukrainian diplomat.

The Russian version of Fox News

    • Milton Devonair

So much ignorance put into one sentence.

  • Milton Devonair

And the funniest thing is, there are actually russians that actually believe their putin owned media.

    • Don Casavant

Milt, I think they believe because most of them only have access to news sources that are part of the propaganda machine. I would venture a guess that 50% to 60% of the Russian population does not have access to “other” news sources. Look at the dictator playbook; first take control the TV and radio, second take control the newspapers and magazines, third take control of the internet! Once you control these three things you can tell your population anything you want and they can not access any source that will dispute the propaganda!

      • Milton Devonair

Exactly. Liberal/progressives/socialists/communists ALWAYS get control of the media first, then government, then schools and with those three, they have complete control of the population/country.

  • Don Casavant

This is another example of what happens in a country where the “free” press is not free to report the truth to the people. The western press can be biased, and often is, but out and out lies do not survive for long in an atmosphere where these lies would be exposed by the other news agencies!

But think that media or press infos do not come in their brains. So what bother ?

  • Dirk Smith

Just the daily hypocrisy and lies put forth by the Ministry of Propaganda. Lavrov up tomorrow morning.
