SBU detains terrorist informant in Donetsk Oblast

2014/11/08 • War in the Donbas

Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) workers arrested a 41-year-old citizen of Ukraine and resident of Donetsk Oblast with the callsign ‘Raduga’ (‘Rainbow’ in Russian – Ed.), who through his criminal actions supported terrorist organizations in the east of Ukraine.

The detainee confessed that in April of the current year he had participated in blocking military stocks, which contained weapons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in the town of Artemivsk in Donetsk Oblast, and in organizing the illegal referendum.

It was discovered that the criminal had been recruited by the terrorist leader Igor Girkin (‘Strekov’) in May this year. ‘Raduga’ received orders from the terrorists to collect and send data to the mercenaries regarding the location and movement of Ukrainian troops. He handed the information he collected to a mercenary of the illegal armed formation ‘SMERSH,’ a leader of the so-called military police of the ‘DNR’ with the nickname ‘Nos’ (‘Nose’ – Ed.).

In August this year ‘Nos’ organized a meeting between ‘Raduga’ and FSB workers near the Russian border, during which they exchanged intelligence information regarding Ukrainian servicemen who are involved in the ATO. The exchange later occurred via the Internet.

The SBU arrested the criminal in his home.

The investigation is ongoing.
