2014/09/23 • Political News

Ten Ukrainians, all civilians suffering from serious wounds from the continuing fighting in eastern Ukraine, arrived this morning on a special flight to Lennart Meri airport in Estonia. They will be taken to the North Estonia Medical Center in Mustamäe, and to other regional hospitals, if necessary, for diagnoses and treatment. There is no time frame for how long their treatment will last, but according to chief physician Andrus Remmelgas the treatment may take months. The selection process was based on transportability of patients and ability of Estonian medical facilities to provide better treatment. In additition it is agreed to to accept another 15 injured Ukrainians later on for rehabilitation.

The Estonian Foreign Office has allocated 170 000 Euros for treatment of people injured during recent events in Ukraine.
