Counter-Proposal to 7 Step “Stabilization”

Oleh Liashko, leader of the Radical Party, and member of the Verkhovna Rada, has a post in reply to Putin’s 7 step:

“Putin has decreed his plan for ‘the stabilization of the situation in the Donbas’. It is impossible that such a proposition could ever halt the aggression of the invaders.

“The following is my counter-proposal for a real cessation of the war:

“1. The complete withdrawal of the Russian army and Russian special forces from the Ukrainian territory of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts; additionally, the removal of all Russian military from their current location along the Ukrainian border and back to their proper barracks.

“2. Stop the cross-border transport of weapons, armor and every other form of support, material and informational, that has been provided to the illegal military formations of the separatists and terrorists in Ukraine; end the movement of Russian mercenaries and ‘volunteers’.

“3. Close the Ukrainian-Russian border to all illegal trafficking of men and equipment; guarantee oversight by the international community for the functioning of a legitimate border patrol mechanism at all border crossings.
4. Disarm the DNR and LNR fighters; demilitarize the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts so that their problems can be solved within the context of legitimate and democratic processes, including open and free parliamentary elections.

Additionally, the DNR and LNR must be declared terrorist organizations.

“5. Demand compensation from Russia for the destruction they have caused to Ukraine: the loss of lives, economic losses, social and infrastructure destruction, everything that has been the direct result of Russian military aggression, including their annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the occupation of other parts of Ukraine, namely the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

“6. Release of all captives, both Ukrainian military personnel and civilians, including those removed from Ukraine and currently held in Russia; the orderly return of Ukrainian refugees who have been resettled to diverse parts of the Russian Federation by the Russian government; their safe return to the cities and towns from which they fled.

“7. The immediate return of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea to the jurisdiction of Ukraine, and the removal of the Black Sea Fleet from its territory.”
