Lukashenko and Nazarbayev discuss Minsk meeting

In a telephone conversation, the Presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan, Alexandr Lukashenko and Nursultan Nazarbayev discussed the upcoming meeting in Minsk between Ukraine, the EU and the CU (Customs Union-Ed.).

The Press Service of President Lukashenko informed Interfax-Zakhid that the two men discussed the organization of the meeting between the presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine with the participation European Union; the meeting will be held in Minsk on August 26.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, had expressed hope that the talks in Minsk between the presidents of Customs Union countries, Ukraine and EU officials would be intense and targeted towards peace.

The European Commission expects to prioritize talks on the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the extension of tripartite negotiations on gas, starting in September, and general security issues.
