The government suspended the embargo on some imported goods

The Russian government excluded lactose-free milk, salmon and trout spawn, potato sprouts, onions, hybrid sweet corn, biologically active additives from the sanctions list. The government order was signed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and published on the website, Vedomosti reports.

Vice Prime Minister Arkadiy Dvorkovich said that these goods would no longer be subject to sanctions a week ago. At the same time he said that food retailers had already found replacements for half of the goods that had been banned for import to Russia.

Starting August 7, Russia imposed a year-long embargo on import of meat, fruit and vegetables, milk and dairy from EU countries, the USA, and other countries that supported sanctions against it. The EU Commission stated on Monday that they would spend 125 million Euro on emergency support of the producers that suffered the consequences. Official EU spokesman Roger Wait stated that “the funds will be used to extract fruit and vegetables from the EU market to prevent the prices from dropping,” first and foremost, “with the goal of free distribution.”

Besides, the list of goods banned for import to Russia was augmented by live fish, excluding salmon and trout spawn.

It won’t be long before the store shelves in Russia will be bare. Let those russian swine starve. Maybe the west should put an embargo on ALL food exports to Russia. That might quicken the demise of the Putin dictatorship.
