Crimean Minister for Resorts and Tourism Yelena Yurchenko claims that since the beginning of the year, over 2 million tourists have visited Crimea and she expects the number to reach 3 million by the end of the year.

“We have calculated approximately, that sometime after the 10th of August we will have this number, today the number of holiday makers in Crimea surpassed 2 million people. This testifies to the fact that we understand what is happening and what we have to do,” the press service of the Ministry for Resorts and Tourism of the Crimean Republic cites the head of the institution on Tuesday.

Yurchenko expressed her surety that by the end of the year Crimea will be able to accommodate 3 million tourists. “Three million is the number that allow the industry to remain stable and profitable, therefore we are talking about this number exactly. If the current tendencies of tourist flow are preserved, we may surpass these three million,” noted the Minister.

Last year 5,9 million tourists visited Crimea.

Wistful thinking based on what we’ve seen.

It seems the same people who were responsible for the Crimea referendum and the 120% turnout are in charge of counting the tourists.

I guess, russians being the corrupt criminals they are, count chairs as a “yes” vote.

Putin has forbidden government officials and other employees in ‘responsible’ positions such as teachers, medical people, etc., – they are not allowed to travel outside of Russia for security reasons, or words to that effect. Or I think they are forbidden 150 countries they cannot visit. Am not sure of all the details and would need to look it up but that’s what is happening. Apparently it will boost holidays within Russia’s borders, particularly Crimea, and for Putin and his gang, that’s a profitable thing.

sadly most of the far less than 2 million that have gone…have not enjoyed their stay…compared to Turkey the facilities are old and Crimean’s generally have thought of the Russian tourists as much ruder…..in Russia they are selling fake documents for people to show their bosses to prove they went to Crimea …instead they were in Turkey or Romania…
