The two Su-25 jets that were downed near Savur-Mohyla in Donetsk oblast this Wednesday, were attacked, according to preliminary information, from the Russian side.

This was stated at a briefing by the spokesman of the NSDC informational centre Andriy Lysenko.

“Today near the village of Dmytrivka four Su-25 jets were lending firing aid to Armed Forces departments at our country’s border. After a successful end to our pilots’ mission, they were shot at from a powerful missile air-defense system,” stated Lysenko.

“Despite all anti-missile maneuvers and firing at heat traps, two of our jets were shot at an altitude of 5200 meters. According to preliminary information, the missile were launched from the territory of the Russian Federation,” emphasized the NSDC information center spokesman.

He noted that this is one of the version of the events.

“According to preliminary information, these planes were not shot down by terrorists, as the man-portable air-defense systems don’t have such long-distance targeting capabilities. The jets were shot at an altitude of 5200 m. This is an altitude for air-defense complexes that are only characteristic of powerful missile complexes,” added Lysenko.

He explained that as this happened near Savur-Mohyla, according to preliminary information, the missiles were fired from across the border.

Investigation is underway at the moment. Information regarding the fate of the crew members is not divulged due to security reasons.

He noted that the terrorists have not stated that these soldiers had been taken hostage.

Lysenko expressed his hope that they are all right.

I believe the US and companies owning satellites have already pinpointed just where the missile was shot from.
