Lavrov threatens Ukraine with nuclear weapons in case of war over Crimea

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov promised that Russia will use all forces and means against Ukraine if the latter decides to go to war for Crimea. RIA NOVOSTI reports that Lavrov made this statement on Wednesday after a meeting with his Italian counterpart, Federica Mogherini.

“I would not advise anyone to do that (attack Crimea – Ed.). We have a doctrine of national security; it very clearly prescribes actions that our country must take in such cases.” said Lavrov.

In 2009, the National Security Concept was revised in Putin’s Russia.

According to this concept, Russia has the right to “use all forces and means at its disposal, including nuclear weapons, to repel any armed aggression.”

In March 2014, Russia illegally occupied Ukrainian Crimea, and “included” it in the Russian Federation.

All international organizations, including the UN General Assembly, PACE, OSCE, the U.S., the EU and Ukraine itself have deemed the occupation illegal and recognize Crimea as Ukrainian territory.

Lavarov talks a big act. in the end Putler backed off in the face of even mild sanctions and the possibility of a prolonged and expensive occupation.
After shelling out 8B for a few years the Russians will be begging UA to take Crimea back.

    • Arctic_Slicer

It will probably end up being Putin himself that begs them to take it back in one final pathetic attempt to hold on to his power.

  • mark273

    Lavrov is such a sweety.

  • Jacks Channel

One Dictator gives Crimea away, another Dictator takes it back. The Russian case for Crimea is empty. The legal documents were signed in 1996 by both Russia and Ukraine, affirming that Crimea belonged to Ukraine after decades of heated debate over the legality of the transfer by Khrushchev in 1954.

    • fsdf

The decision to unite crimea with soviet republic Ukraine was a very wise one back then. As it is a souvereign territory the occupation of crimea is ofc illegal and against all international law. If Putin gets away with that, I as a German could argue to take back parts of Poland, as they indeed are genuine former parts of Germany. Such abstruse pushback in the 21st century – nobody could imagine..

  • sandy miller

Mr Lavarov….Crimea is not Russias….it is a soverenign state in Ukraine which you illegally invaded and annexed. You have no legal right to keep it. You should give it back to Ukraine. Ukraine did not start a war with Russia. Russia started the war and now you’re threatening Ukraine that they shouldn’t try to take it back. You’d use Nuclear weopons if need be? It shows how much Russia really cares ab out Russians in Crimea.

    • http://ukrainianpolicy.com/ UkrainianPolicy

Well, in fairness Crimea was never a “sovereign state” in Ukraine (that would imply it was an independent country), it was a province with greater autonomy than other Ukrainian provinces (but less than say, a US state or Canadian province)

    • Le Peuple c’est Nous

Crimea was given to Ukraine by a drunk Krutchev on a late night. But Crimeans are entitled to the right of self determination and therefore should be allowed a referendum. You don’t recognize the results of the previous referendum ? Then organize a new one, except that you already know that people will vote to be part of Russia. The land of Crimea before being owned by any state is owned by its people.

      • Milton Devonair

“The land of Crimea before being owned by any state is owned by its people.”

God you’re so ‘french’. You’re in favor of letting putin steal crimea in one post, now you’re in favor of letting crimea be owned by crimeas. No wonder when it comes to things that matter, the french are only asked about, well, I guess sometimes food and wine, sometimes anyway. Australian and American are better wines anyway….

        • Le Peuple c’est Nous

I’m glad you prefer American and Australian wines, these are mostly French ‘cepage'(grape variety in French) originally…

About the land of Crimea belonging to Crimeans, well this is the same pattern as the one UN used in Kosovo and South Soudan and US voted for, so we actually think the same !!! Except that when it’s in favour of Russia, amazingly, it’s wrong.

          See how dumb you are.

          • Milton Devonair

“that you already know that people will vote to be part of Russia.”
            “See how dumb you are.”

            Wrong pronoun there pepe.

Pepe, here is your “get out the vote” in Crimea….russian style, and heavily armed russian killers in crimea.
Doesn’t seem like a lot of people were open to being turned into russians…..

Russia and North Korea- peas in a pod. Always making threats in every direction. As I remember it, when we signed a disarmament treaty with Russia and began bilateral inspections of nuclear sites, our inspectors discovered that all their ICBM silos had been full of water for years; we’d been defending against an empty threat. I wonder if they’ve yet pumped out of those silos? A blow dryer for the electronics? :)

If Hitler is alive today he will certainly congratulate the EU for its clever taking over the majority of Europe without even firing a shot. Soon, all of Europe will lose their sovereignty and become saves to the bankers. Go ahead, Ukraine, go to Europe, you will soon see how “wonderful” EU really is. Just ask all the Greeks and the poor Bulgarians, Spaniards, Portugal, etc.
While Russia and China and the BRICS countries are making deals after deals, the EU, USA are falling behind and all they can do is watch helplessly and try to make wars.

    • Le Peuple c’est Nous

I’m from France, and I totally agree. I would even add on top of your comment that the EU is the political tool to bring countries into US claws, as an example, article 42 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union clearly states that EU follows NATO on security matters, which we all know is the open door to US imperialist army.

      • Milton Devonair

“US imperialist army” lmao! You frenchies are almost as bad as russians on your ignorance and arrogance, lol.

“Imperialist Army” lol. When you frenchies aren’t surrendering, don’t you people still maintain a dozen or so colonies around the world?

        • Le Peuple c’est Nous

First, in the last 400 years we have won more wars than US did, but I guess you’re another ill-educated person who learns history through hollywood remakes, thank god all American are not like you.

Then, having military bases in 60 foreign countries + secret prisons and drones attack on sovereign nations(not so much in the end), call it however you want I call it imperialism.

For our overseas territories, they all went through a referendum and have chosen to remain French. Again, read the UN resolutions about it, oh sorry there’s no movie for that. United States is no better, Puerto Rico was colonised in 1898 and is still a colony, there is also Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa…

Yes we were imperialist, yes we have tortured and colonised and we are now following US foreign policies like sheeps thanks to our coward leaders and the imperialist NATO.

          • Milton Devonair

Winning more wars in the last 400 years is something to be proud of? lol. You europeans are such tribal savages, you’re constantly invading and killing each other over what some king or queen did or said or lived or at 300 years prior.

That’s why Americans are trusted with firearms and europeans aren’t. Seriously. You people are so tribal, you’d probably start 18 different wars in the first 20 minutes you were given firearms.
Heck, look at your soccer. Perfect example of do nothing on stage accompanied by tribal violence by everyone.

          • Le Peuple c’est Nous

At least I recon that we had colonies, you don’t even acknowledge. For Afghanistan, we should have never go, neither in Iraq, as I told you, our leaders are cowards and remain in NATO therefore have to follow the US. And as your islands, ours + the Guyane Francaise have decided to remain French, just read, it’s all available online.

Why are you always saying French surrender ? I mean all neo-conservatives warmongers like you. That’s what I was answering by saying we won more wars, which is not a pride, it’s history. But anyway, maybe we are tribal savages but there were more people killed by firearms in the US since the beginning of the war in eastern Ukraine than in Eastern Ukraine, and certainly way more than in France, so I’d rather keep guns the way it is in France, meaning for hunters mostly and government forces.

          • Milton Devonair

Pepe, you’re being the typical American liberal/progressive or I guess typical european leftist. I don’t know what a ‘neoconservative’ is, but you’ve memorized the talking points and pit them out without thought, the stop-thought labels, just as programmed. Your trainers did well.

Your ignorance is spitting out that “more people killed by firearms in…” piece of propaganda. You really don’t know anything about the USA, but that’s why you’re a european, all ignorance, yet full of arrogance. So as yet another service Americans have to do for europeans, I’ll educate you.

Most of the woundings/killings in the USA by firearms is by criminal gang members shooting other criminal gang members. I have a few friends that are cops in chicago. Last weekend there were 16 people killed by gunfire in Chicago–all of them related to criminals gangs shooting each other.
The biggest problem with this is the gang vermin are such lousy shot, when shooting at each other they usually miss so they sometimes hit innocent, law abiding citizens.

It’s against the law for them to have guns because they are felons, but they steal the guns so they have them. A lot are illegals immigrants, yet another crime.

USA has a crime problem, not a firearms problem. You really might want to consider informing yourself better on issues rather than just bleating out BS because that makes you just another “useful idiot”. And as we can see, the internet boards are full of them and the russian paid putin-gandists to feed people like you.

          • Milton Devonair

What exact countries are we being “imperial” with pepe? If it’s iraq, yeah, that was a UN mandate with a UN coalition and yes, the french were there, though they really can’t do much because they really don’t have much.
And IIRC you frenchies are also in afghanistan too. And you frenchies seem to always be going to africa to kill black people. What’s up with that?

The closest thing we have to a colony is puerto rico and we got that when the spanish lost their war for their colonies here and left back to europe. They can say a commonwealth of the usa or leave, but they know that if it werne’t for the usa, they’d be haiti or cuba. The other islands chose to stay with the usa and even when the phillipines said “you can go now” we did. Where we have military bases (real ones) the people want us to stay as they like our protection and our dollars.

    • Milton Devonair

The problem with your country is the same as every other country that the soviet russian vermin invaded and colonized–they set up a dysfunctional, criminal and corrupt system, then robbed it blind. It’s what russia does.
That’s why a should be wealthy country like Ukraine wound up where it did.
Look at Belarus. Why aren’t they a rich country?
      Why did Germany succeed?
Greece and Spain are economically dysfunctional (don’t know about portugal). They are welfare states, like a lot of western europe is, but they don’t produce anything to pay for those goods.

Sounds like you might need to take some economics courses or do some studying in free market economics.

      • Ezra Pound

“they set up a dysfunctional, criminal and corrupt system, then robbed it blind” – yep, and now it is the Jewish-occupied US government that does those things.

        • Milton Devonair

You do know there’s an “eye” on a dollar bill, no?
It’s the “jews” and they’re using it to watch you.

          • Ezra Pound

Milton, wouldn’t you agree that the organized Jewish community exercises a grossly disproportionate influence on the direction of foreign and domestic policy in the US?

          • Milton Devonair

I think groups with money and people with money disproportionately influence US govt policy, but that’s hardly unique to the USA. I think every country in the world is subject to this form of governance.

          • Ezra Pound

Wealth and political influence are of a piece, Milton. There’s no untangling the interdependent causal relationship between them so it does nothing to address the ethnic question. Wouldn’t you agree?

          • Milton Devonair

I don’t agree with your premise. Just because someone is jewish doesn’t mean they aren’t or are incapable of being a nationalist. Same thing as being uber wealthy–that doesn’t automatically make a person not a nationalist or a bad person.

Judiasm is a religion, not a nationality. Most of the non-kgb/fsb people in power in russia are also jewish. There are many non-jewish people that have sold out their nations for money.

If you are thinking along the lines of “war is profitable” you’re mistaken. In the western hemisphere that ended with the banana republics war and that type of weaponry. There’s too many, too good, too destructive weapons in the world now to have that line of thinking. The only way I can think that would work is for someone to play the futures game of oil sliding, then trying to cause some oil crisis, but that game isn’t available anymore as that whole region is blowing up anyway.

“I’m sorry I voted for Obama” bumperstickers would be a good business to get start.

          • Ezra Pound

“Just because someone is jewish doesn’t mean they aren’t or are incapable of being a nationalist.” – Yeah, I agree and I never said otherwise. But I am not talking about those Jewish individuals who are loyal to their respective countries, I am talking about those who are not. What about the vast majority of Jewish political operatives in America that ARE loyal to Israel and loyal to the anti-American agenda to impose “political correctness”, “multiculturalism” and gay “marriage” on white gentile nations for the purpose of destroying their ethnic and moral homogeneity? The fact that SOME Jews are loyal – which I happy admit – does nothing to address my concerns. I never said or implied that ALL Jews do anything; my only concern is with those who provably let their Jewishness usurp their national loyalty. What about them? They are a threat to every nation in which they operate. Unfortunately, the Jewish state has made Jewishness a de facto nationality by automatically giving all Jews citizenship. If there is going to be such a thing as a “Jewish state” then all Jews should have to return there and reapply for citizenship elsewhere because the mere possibility of betrayal is enough to justify action.

          • Milton Devonair

“my only concern is with those who provably let their Jewishness usurp their national loyalty. What about them?”

Dunno as I can’t do anything about them and neither can you.

The only remedy would be to have some sort of test for them, but what will it be, who will give it and how will it be enforced/punished?
It can’t as there isn’t any.
The only way some such thing can be done is if there’s a dictator that calls the shots. There is one running russia….and most of his oligarch cronies are jewish, so then it just can’t be any dictator, but the right one for your desired needs….

And if such a ‘patriotism’ test were to be given most of the liberal/progressives would also fail. I’d LOVE to get rid of them as they are the most dangerous threat to the USA as a nation there is, but can’t. Heck, right now they have their own dictator-lite as president.

Don’t know what the solution is, but I know blaming jews is pretty far from it. Maybe just becoming involved locally in the politicas of your area. The liberal/progressives are keenly aware of the power of this, this “community organizing” BS.

          • Ezra Pound

I’m glad we agree that “liberals” (i.e., Liberalism) is the big threat. How do you feel about the “gay marriage” movement Milton? Take some time and google these names:

Larry Kramer, Alan Klein, Arnie Kantrowitz, Jonathan D. Katz, Harvey Fierstein, Moisés Kaufman, Israel Fishman, Bella Abzug, Edward Koch, Winnie Stachelberg, Michael S. Aronowitz, Tony Kushner, Len Hirsch, Meg Moritz, Ph.D., David Goodstein, Judy Wieder, Alison Bechdel, Kevin Koffler, Garrett Glaser, Ronald Gold, Fred Hochberg, Michael Berman, Rick Rosendall, Barney Frank, Kerry Lobel, Robin Margolis, Evan Wolfson, Jennifer Einhorn, Richard Goldstein, Ron Schlittler, Craig Ziskin, Debra Weill, Dody Goldstein, David Horowitz, Shawn Frank, Leon Weinstein, Kate Kendell, Gayle Rubin, Hilary Rosen, Roz Richter, Bob Kunst, Steven Goldstein and many, many more.

These people all have two things in common (1) they are all the leading lights of the so-called “gay rights” movement which seeks to debase, degrade, infantilize and homosexualize our nation and (2) they are ALL Jews. Every “gay rights” group is in fact created, funded, staffed and run by Jews. What conclusion are Americans supposed to draw from this fact? Does it mean I “hate Jews” because I resent the fact that it is Jews who are poisoning my country with this filth? (Notice, I didn’t say ALL Jews.) If was a group of Buddhists or Muslims or Arabs or Ethnic Chinese I would be saying the same things and opposing them for the same reason. Not because the are Jewish (or Chinese or Muslims or whatever) but because what they DO. “Anti-semitism” (sic) is a “disease” and it is spread by the behavior of Jews. Unfortunately, not Jews spread this disease, so it is unfortunate they they often get blamed for the behavior of their people. But the fact is, the predatory and parasitic behavior of certain Jewish people is rooted in their “holy” book, the Babylonian Talmud, which is a disgusting toilet of Jewish racial supremacism and it is the faunt of all hatred between Jews and gentiles. “All gentiles are suspect with regard to bestiality.” – Jewish “holy” book Babylonian Talmud: Mishnah, Avodah Zarah 2:1.

          • Milton Devonair

I don’t think it’s a jewish thing to feminize, rather a liberal/progressive thing. Most ‘artists’ types are more prone to be liberal/progressive and more liberal/progressives are more prone to either be gay or be accepting of it and/or promoting it.

I think the jews are more likely to be in positions like that not because they’re jewish, but as stated, because they’re liberal/progressive. And the jewish culture values money and education more, so they are naturally more successful in life than cultures that don’t, such as american blacks. Quick, name all the professional athletes that re jewish? Now go look at the business, law and medical schools and see how many jews are there vs how many blacks are there.

I really don’t see gay jews getting together, reading their talmud or not, organizing to make a country more gay, for whatever the reason.

Nope, that disease is a liberal/progressive one.

Putin sure has murdered a lot of journalists in an effort to get their reporting to his liking. I think it’s about 150…..

  • James Leonard

It seems everyone commenting here is not aware that Russia had a military base in Crimea and contract with the government of Ukraine to be there until 2042. How can that possibly be viewed as an invasion? America has a military base in Germany. Is that an invasion, too? How about the other 1,000 US bases in 60 other countries?

The US, Europe and the UN approved Kosovo’s succession from Yugoslavia under the principle of self-determination and in Canada, Quebec held 2 referendums to split from Canada and neither America nor the UN objected. Professor of International Law Francis Boyle from the University of Illinois had declared Crimea’s right to secede is valid and legal. Many other scholars have said the same but mass media will not allow you to read their opinions.

The propaganda against Russia in the west and in Europe is extreme at present. America has a long record of lying about just about everything these days as most of you know. Instead of just repeating everything you hear in the western mass media, do a little independent homework. For those who believe in democracy, maybe listening to 96% of the voters is not such a bad thing to do.

    • Milton Devonair

Comrade, russia had their port in crimea and they were paying rent to Ukraine to use it. In exchange, Ukraine got a price break on it’s gas price from russia. Putin invaded Crimea for access to their gas resources and also as a means to protect his projected ‘south stream gas line’ under the black sea to bulgaria, then to southern europe.

Are you russians all really this ignorant or just playing so ignorant in an effort to lie, lie, and lie to humans so you can get away with your continual invasions (Chechnya, Ossetia/Georgia, Crimea, Ukraine)?

Also, you ignorant russian, the US doesn’t have 1,000 bases in 60 countries.

Dear ms nutbat, no idea who that maurice samuel guy is, but he surely is embedded deeply into your head. The only way for you to survive the imminent attack from that guy is is to keep wrapping your head in tin foil and lock your basement door.
Oh, and hand a pork chop and garlic clove on the knob…..

          • Harold Smith

Dear Judenfilth, you should stop playing with your boyfriend’s cock and concentrate on trying to have a nice discussion here.

        • Milton Devonair

Oh, forgot, you’re one of those mom’s basement dwellers that wrap your pin head in tin foil as you say America for attacking itself on 9-11-2001. Paranoid clown.

          • Joseph Jesus

The imperialist bully you refer to is Neo Bolshevik talmudic world zionism re the 911 attack on the USA the terrorist criminal Israeli regime did it with nuclear devices derived from “pitts” supplied by poppy Bush. The nuclear joke is of course on Israel … all that depleted uranium and the MOX damaged reactor at Dimona.

          • Milton Devonair

So fit’s jewish clowns you have a phobia of?

          • Harold Smith

Time to run along now, little Shlomo, and get back to your Talmudic studies, or your devil worship, or your many sexual perversions, or torturing small animals, or slaughtering Arab children, or stealing Arab land, or trafficking in human organs, or trafficking in White sex slaves, or bribing politicians, or overthrowing someone else’s government, or defrauding your insurance company, or painting swastikas on your front door, or making up “holocaust” stories, or plotting the next act of false-flag “terrorism”, or whatever it is you Satanic, psychopathic Judenfilth do when you’re not on line telling lies.

          • Milton Devonair

Wow, truly moon bat nutjobbery of you there. Impressive you were able to type all of that feeble brain dump wiping the slobber with one hand and using the other to type…..all once sentence.

It’s basement dwellers like you that make normal people want stricter gun control in the USA as you’re 8 ways of unstable.
Hopefully your basement bunker is in some other country.

          • Harold Smith

You c’mon Shitstein, you’re just sour grapes. You wouldn’t know anything about “normal people” if your boyfriend shoved it up your ample Jewish ass.

        • Walter Salmaniw

You are really sick. To think that in the 21st century there are still people such as you that stoop so low as to hurl racial slurs. I have no idea whether Milton is Jewish or not. Frankly, it doesn’t matter one iota. He is courageously defending a nation that has been violated by an imperialist bully. I say, good on you, Milton!

          • Harold Smith

“There is only one power which really counts. The power of political pressure. We Jews are the most powerful people on earth, because we have this power, and we know how to apply it.” (Ze’ev Jabotinsky, Jewish Daily Bulletin, July 27, 1935)

          • Walter Salmaniw

And I don’t have a clue what you’re getting at. I suppose you’re paid by the post, so it’s not that important what you actually write? Man, how our RuSSian trolls love conspiracy theories! Watch out, everyone is out to get you!

        • Hutin Poy

Oh look a keyboard warrior. Watching your porn and waiting for your mum to feed you. I pity your parents for bringing up a brick. A particularly stupid ignorant brick!

Yo Shitstein, you’re supposed to be looking at your monitor, not your mirror, as you type your hapless Jew drivel.

          • Milton Devonair

“brick”, lol. I like that, but really, you are insulting bricks.

      • Milton Devonair

Comrade you sure babble a lot and say nothing.
Your putin denied he sent more russian troops (and chechen) into crimea, only later to admit it.
That’s one thing about you russians–you think humans are as ignorant as you russians are, so you lie, lie, lie, lie until it’s true in your limited craniums.

      • James Leonard

Google “US Military Bases around the world” and you’ll get over 18 million results to choose from. Pick one.

Germany has 56, Italy 113 and Japan 84. That’s 253 in just 3 countries. Add up the other 57 countries listed and I think you’ll find there’s over 1,000 as I said.

If you want a list of their names and the country they’re in, go to

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_military_bases#Joint_overseas

        • Milton Devonair

lol. You don’t know anything about the US Military, so guessing some liberal/progressive activist type nut or just some “the whole world is a conspiracy against me” type person that lives in basements.

Clicked on your link and clicked on the first one I saw:
          Bulgaria:
2006 Bulgaria signed an agreement with the US to allow US troops there for mutual training. The base will be under the Bulgarian flag and Bulgarian command.

Under the agreement, the max number of US personnel is limited to 2,500, lol. Quick, run for the hills!!!!!!!

We also have a joint training agreement with Romania and when the russian pigs invaded yet another country–Crimea–the Romanians asked for US troops to be stationed in their country.

james leonard, you should not talk about things you know nothing about and stick to things you actually know something about, though it appears that will be extremely limited.

      • Hutin Poy

Yes the majority of the world believes Putin invaded except idiots like you! Why don’t you come here to Ukraine Abbott and I will plant you head first in a Ukrainian forrest.

    • Ikenna ‘Нигерия Присе’ Okeke

Either you blind to the fact that there was no due process in this process of referendum leading to seceding to Russia or you are selective in choosing the truth you want to believe . But in which ever case it was there were many disenfranchised Voters and lots of fraud . possible only 10% of Crimeans actually voted for this Joke

      • James Leonard

Actually 82.7 % of eligible voters took part in the referendum.

A group of international observers from Israel, Spain, Italy, USA, UK, Latvia, Moldova and Serbia visited the largest cities of Crimea – Simferopol, Yalta, Evpatoria, Alushta, Saki, as well as many villages in the countryside.

All observers unanimously noted that the referendum was held in full compliance with international standards.

“According to the Vice-President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Nenad Popovic, the “referendum was organized in
a perfect manner,” as evidenced by his meetings with heads of various
electoral commissions as well as visits to several polling stations. He
stressed that “all citizens of Crimea were given equal rights to
participate in the referendum; the will of voters was free and
democratic; and the voting procedure was completely transparent.” Popovic thanked Crimean authorities for allowing “free and unrestricted access to polling stations for international observers.”

        http://finance.yahoo.com/news/international-observers-crimean-referendum-strongly-183400247.html

Contrast this vote with the vote for President of Ukraine where areas that objected were not given the opportunity to vote.

        • Mat

          a) it was 30%, as shown by a Russian watchdog, not 87%, which is an impossible number given that most were too afraid to leave their houses and the 20% of the population which is Tatar largely boycotted it. This would imply a North Korean-esque 107% turnout for everyone else.

          b) The observers were members of the European far-right, fringe academics, and neo-Nazis. I wouldn’t give much credence to your “international observers” – who also in interviews said there were no armed men in the streets, while armed men were directly outside. What a joke you people are.

          • James Leonard

European far right and neo-Natzis are anti-Russian and support the junta and Poroshenko. Why would they want to support Russia as you seem to be saying? For supporting the junta, Svoboda (the neo-Natzi extremist party in Ukraine) was given much power in the new government. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-hughes/the-neo-nazi-question-in_b_4938747.html

As for people being too afraid to vote in Crimea, maybe you should look at all the video of huge lines of people lined up to vote. The BBC’s Ben Brown is quoted as saying, “There is a sea of Russian flags.” The BBC also says around 90% voted to join Russia. Have a look. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26598832

If you don’t believe the BBC, how about ABC news in America? There’s also video of huge crowds waving Russia flags. http://abcnews.go.com/International/crimea-voters-overwhelmingly-approve-leaving-ukraine-joining-russia/story?id=22930062

How about adding some links to the source of your information.

          • Milton Devonair

lmao Comrade. You just keep regurgitating putin-ganda. It sure does beat thinking and keeps you russians firmly so entrenched in your ignorance, you cannot even see how screwed up russia is and how he and his kgb buddies are raping your country and repressing russians there.
One of my favorite videos. Even children know russia stinks.

          • Walter Salmaniw

You conveniently forgot the internet information from an official Russian government website which posted that only 30% of the population voted, with only 50% in favour of joining RuSSia. This was quickly withdrawn. And Mat is indeed correct in his assertion that these observers were seedy extremist characters. As for the “sea of Russian flags”, of course. It was dangerous to display Ukrainian flags, as shown by the thuggish behaviour earlier when peaceful supporters of Ukraine were beaten up repeatedly. Once again, how could “90%” have voted for joining Russia when 20% of the population (Tartars) boycotted the vote? Yes, this is only possible in North Korea and the old Soviet Union. Never could figure out those 99.99% support figures (or 107% !).

http://www.forbes.com/sites/paulroderickgregory/2014/05/05/putins-human-rights-council-accidentally-posts-real-crimean-election-results-only-15-voted-for-annexation/ This link discusses those bogus results.

How conveniently people tend to forget that Serbia was engaged in genocide all over the former Yugoslavia ( Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina ) and was in the middle of the same in Kosovo! And this all because you goose-stepping Über-Lefties can’t get get beyond the fact the West, let alone America had to intervene!

It’s people like you that made people like me ashamed to call themselves Liberals! So we call ourselves Progressives to honor an older, more honorable way of behaving towards free thinking people. And we want the name “Liberal” back! You’ve sullied it!

      • Milton Devonair

You can change the label, but it’s still all the same, government control, goverment regulation, government is the beginning, the middle, and the end all of anything and everything.

    • Hutin Poy

Haha! James you are just be a complete moron. I cannot believe anyone can be so dumb. I hope you are one of the kremlin paid trolls hired to infest forums and news sites, because your comment is total BS! Also for your info, Russia and DEMOCRACY do not go in the same sentence.

If I was the Kremlin I would ask for my money back. You are a tool. Better you try comedy!

      • Milton Devonair

Isn’t BS like that funny? It’s ignorant enough that they better hope they’re just paid useful idiots by putin or else that’d be really embarrassing to have people actually think a person actually believes that.

I mean, even for a russian, that’d be a level of ignorance that would be embarrassing.

You give a lot of details, but ignore the important ones. Russia has a bases in Crimea, mainly Sevastopol. But the treaty with Ukraine is that Russian soldiers stationed in those bases are not allowed to mobilize off the base. Everybody knows they were mobilized and Putin also publicly confirmed this. That’s an invasion. Your American bases argument is phony.

Quebec people publicly debated succession for years before their referendums. All kinds of campaigns and legal activities preceded them. Crimeans had only two weeks to think about it, no public debates, massive propaganda and censorship. It’s not possible that 96% of the Crimean voting age people voted to join Russia. Most Tatars boycotted, Ukrainian military members didn’t vote. The actual vote was probably closer to 40%, as indicated by the report on Russia’s official Presidential Council on Civil Society and Human Rights web site.

Aksyonov’s Russian Unity party got only 4% of the vote in the more civilized elections in 2010 and 2012. How is it possible to increase that to 96%, without armed overthrow of the Crimean Rada, massive propaganda about mythical Nazis in Kiev, stupid “gifting” theory of Krushchev in 1954, and violating several treaties in which Russia recognized Crimea as part of Ukraine and pledged not to intimidate Ukraine with economic or military means? That certainly is not democracy.

Just read the comments–get real guys and dolls. Each one of you anti Russians need a swift kick up yours. Crimea was given to Ukraine to keep Ukraine away from EU.and to top that off Russia was giving over $400 million per year as rent. Russia had a agreement 40 year lease. But EU wants Crimea as a tool against Russia. Imagine if you gave a knife to your son and he started threatening school kids. You sure would take it back if you don’t your sick puppy :^(

“Crimea was given to Ukraine to keep Ukraine away from EU”
God you russians are ignorant and really funny when you think that humans are as ignorant as you russians.
Don’t know what’s in your neo-soviet history books, but there was no EU in 1952.

      • James Leonard

Milton, ad hominem attacks belie your position. These attacks are used by people who have no basis in fact to support what they claim so they attack the character of the person making a statement you disagree with. By demeaning those who comment here, you are actually exposing your position as baseless, which most people will surely recognize.

        • Milton Devonair

You should have made that all one sentence.
If I demean those that are paid russian accounts and/or those that cheerlead fascista putin’s invasions, repression and murders, then I am doing a good job at communicating what I think.

You can applaud the threat to annilate all of Ukraine if they try and free the Crimeans from the russian and chechen criminals all you want. It’s your choice. I just choose not to do that.

  • Gene

Talking past history of Crimea and Russia, and comparing this to Germany past, or former alliances and confederations and unions, misses the facts from the legality of how the people of Crimea themselves chose to act. Any understanding commences with the illegal and violent overthrow of their formerly elected President, then continues with the total destruction of the Ukrainian Constitution as well. Once that Constitution was overthrown, along with the constitutionally elected President, there is no longer a legal framework for the people of Ukraine to have a nation. The nation itself, like the USA, is meaningless and void of legality without that sacred Constitution. Look the word up in any dictionary, it is the “foundation” upon which any legally build nation stands, and the “basis” upon which the people agree to be united and ruled over.

Therefore, what basis without it do the persons who then claimed to have power in Kiev base there assertion of power – it is arbitrary and void of legality. If the American Constitution is overthrown violently by a fire breathing and thuggish mob, then they decide along with foreign powers – say from Kiev and Paris, and even Brussels – who our rulers should be. And, if they together decide that those who organized this violent mob should now rule over our nation and me and you, what says we need to follow. And if we together decide, each in our states, how we will proceed, and who will rule over us, we have that autonomous right. Those who arbitrarily by force have destroyed our prior rights have no authority to decide now our future. And most especially they have no right to say we must abide by former agreements – those which they arbitrarily mandate – or they will otherwise violently force them upon us. WE have the inalienable right of self determination. Certainly, the people of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea also have that right, and they have asserted it.

lol!!! That’s good.!! And that’s what happens when russia cannot steal technology/material, they’re stuck in their primate ways using primate technology!

          Good one. 😀

          • Ezra Pound

“Yeah, America has WAY better tech capabilities than Russia! It’s not like the US relies on Russia to get our people back and forth from the ISS using their rockets or anything like that!” – You really are a trip Milton. Are you a US government employee? Russia is producing some of the most advanced weapons and aircraft systems in existence. How’s that F-35 going for ya? Can it fly through clouds without electrocuting the pilots yet? Something tells me if it ever gets off the ground, Russia’s S-400s will make sure it goes right back down. Oh yeah, Milton, did you hear that the US government is going to leave billions of dollars worth of military equipment behind in Afghanistan because we have no way of getting it out? Oops! We needed Russia to facilitate our retreat…..Now we have to leave all that hardware behind for the Taliban. You folks sure know how to play your hand in international affairs! USA! USA! #1! I’m sure we’re still #1 at SOMETHING – exporting pornography I think.

          • Milton Devonair

Comrade, the only reason why the USA is using russian rockets instead of their own is because the USA decided to throw in with other countries for space work after your soviet russia’s gulag system collapsed and we thought you russians could become humans. Our bad, lesson learned from chechnya, ossetia/georgia, crimea, and ukraine. Russia started out so good, but then the only thing still standing was their kgb, so the kgb just took over the reins of russia and own it to this very day.

As far as the USA’s space program, I don’t seem much value in it for what we do on earth. With mir, the work was, “eat, sleep, work on mir” for what they did. We’ve better things to do with our money and time. Zerobama though, as with everything, has “changed” nasa into a muslim outreach program. But one thing he and putin agree upon, both see the need to destroy American or at least cause it serious damage on as many fronts as possible and make it into a lowly european social democracy to stagnate along into the history books.

Don’t know about the latest generation jet as it’s still in production.
Do you work there or something or are you just an internet warrior repeating news stories from journalists that know very little?
I ask because you don’t seem to know a lot about the military other than what you read in the headlines on the internet.

          • Mykola Banderachuk

            here is another one

          • Milton Devonair

lol, yup, those russians need to steal more technology as they’re pretty far retarded, culturally that is, so technologically also.

Man, I just can’t hate russians more. Before the Ukranian crisis I used to like Russia and russians but seeing what I had seen they do to Ukranians I hate fucking russians. And is not like I only hate the russian goverment but it’s people since very very few of them actually oppose to their dictatorship. Even the fucking young ones that have Internet access and can get news outside their propaganda network are part of the gang. This is not the case like in Germany of 1935 in where all germans had to read “My kampf” in schools and have no access to outside news. This is the case of ALL FUCKING RUSSIANS (with an exception of just hundreds) that are in tune with their Tzar. It’s seams that a good russian is a dead russian.

    • Bynk

You are wrong, the war is on Ukrajine not on Russia, the ukraine doing that, not russians 😀

Ruskies are so stupid that they think the world is bipolar and because they are servants of their tzar they belive that we have a tzar ourselves…

Russians are discusting and many time worst than germans pre WWII.

They will keep doing the very same Hitler did until the west dot take it anymore and nuke them. And when they try to use their nukes they will be exploded in the air with the many weapons the west has for that purpose.
