Cirque de Soleil actor donates $60,000 to the Ukrainian army

Viktor Kee, a Chernihiv-born actor with the world-famous Cirque de Soleil performance company, has donated $60,000 for the needs of the Ukrainian army. According to one Ukrainian site, the 45-year old actor traveled around the US to tell his viewers about the tragic situation in Ukraine. At his concerts, he collected money for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Viktor Kee (Kiktev) was born in Pryluky, Chernihiv Oblast, into a family of musicians and dancers. As a child, he played in the Udai circus troupe of the Budmash Plant’s performing arts center. In 1989, he joined the Kyiv Academy of Vaudeville and Circus Arts, then moved to France. Today, he lives in Florida.

But the actor never forgot his homeland and even painted his car blue and yellow, with the Ukrainian trident or tryzub on its hood. The words “Help Ukraine” are painted on the car.

According to Viktor’s mother, who also lives in the US, her son initially collected money to help the relatives of those who had died on the Maidan. “First and foremost, the money will be given to the families of Heaven’s Hundred which, in our opinion, are the most in need of financial assistance. While it will not return their loved ones, the money will offer some help,” wrote Larysa Tsybulska. “I wish our country would concern itself with this, and not just Ukrainians who live far from their homeland.”

Dear readers. I am Viktor Kee, founder of Help Ukraine Project. I would like to clarify the on going information about me donating 60K to Ukrainian Army is untrue. Help Ukraine Project was a two weeks cross country tour thru out the USA to raise awareness about our country trouble times and to show support of all American citizens from entire USA by symbolic gesture of signing Ukrainian National Flag by thousands of Americans along the way. We were set up only to collect smaller amounts of donations and not any large deposit wishing to help children of the victim’s families. We only raised few thousands of Dollars cash and helped few families with what we could by personally handing the money to the victim’s families. However as we made many TV, Radio and Media Appearances and along the way asked thousands of people to donate thru other official Foundations that will offer Tax Exempt status (501 C3, as we did not have such structure to do so) it is very possible that someone else did the donation inspired by our project. But personally, I would like to announce that I never donated money to Ukrainian Army my self. I announced as well officially to VK http://m.vk.com/wall-5069664_37140 . I am sorry if some of you might be disappointed. Please visit http://www.help-ukraine.com for more info, photos, videos etc. to learn about the project. As of now I created my own Foundation and will continue to create projects to support our Beautiful Country Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine Yours Viktor Kee Help Ukraine Project!

Every dollar counts. Even a small sum donated makes a difference.
