Separatists in Luhansk announce the arrival of reinforcements from Crimea

 Liga.Net – April 8, 2014  |  16:03 Kyiv time

The extremists who seized the Luhansk SBU office announced the arrival of reinforcements from Sevastopol and prepared the building for an assault by riot police. Luhansk separatists said that their associates from Sevastopol came to help them, reports local site 0642.

There are several cars with Crimean license plates near the Luhansk SBU office. The building’s invaders behave aggressively and snap threats to journalists. The separatists have also announced the creation of the Parliament of the Luhansk Republic. The extremists have elected themselves as deputies of this ‘Parliament.’

Cars with food are approaching the SBU building; traffic police allowed them into the barricaded area. Protesters expected an assault involving the National Guard, several tanks, and 20 armored personnel carriers.

According to one of the demonstrators, there are a few hundred people inside the SBU building, and they are in fact armed ‘to the teeth.’ They built permanent fortified firing positions with bricks, and removed safes from all rooms for use as reinforced protection points.

As a reminder, a group to negotiate with the separatists has been set up, led by Luhansk Regional State Administration head Mykhailo Bolotskih.

Donetsk Republic did not last more than one day

Ukrainian Pravda – April 8, 2014

Vitalii update 1

The Patriotic Forces Committee of Donbas (PFCD) decided to cancel its decision to establish the Donetsk Republic, as stated by their press service.

“In connection with the recent events, the Patriotic Forces Committee of Donbas (PFCD) received numerous complaints from citizens. Citizens expressed their strong disagreement with the establishment of the Donetsk Republic, the announcement of its accession to the neighboring state, and the holding of a referendum without an appropriate legislative framework,” says the PFCD’s statement.

In this regard, the Committee has already held a meeting of the People’s Council in Donetsk, which made the following decisions on April 7, 2014, as stated by the PFCD:

1. Cancel the decision on the establishment of the Donetsk Republic.

2. Prohibit holding any referendums in Donetsk Oblast before the creation of the appropriate legal framework.

3. Recognize as illegal the declaration of secession of Donetsk Oblast from Ukraine and preserve it as part of the independent Ukrainian state.

As a reminder, separatists in Donetsk proclaimed the creation of the so-called Donetsk Republic on Monday, April 7, 2014.

Donetsk citizens outraged by the fact that a ‘hundred crazy people’ made a decision on behalf of the more than one million residents of the city of Donetsk and the four million residents of Donetsk Oblast.

Separatists have canceled the decision to establish the Republic of Donetsk. This news was reported by Alexei Matsuka, page editor of News of Donbas, on his Facebook page. The people of Donetsk responded to the proclamation of the Donetsk Republic with indignation. “In a megacity like Donetsk, a hundred abnormal people proclaimed Donetsk a republic. It’s a joke,” the people of Donetsk write on social networks.

As a reminder, separatists held talks with Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Yarema tonight [April 7] under the mediation of oligarch Rinat Akhmetov. Extremists promised the government that they would surrender their weapons. However, this morning the separatists declared that they expect an assault by riot police and they are not going to disperse. They urge women to stay near the Donetsk Regional State Administration and become a human shield.
